Students are required to meet five ISR based criteria to obtain a certificate: Mental Health, Volunteering, Donation, Personal Environmental Footprint, and Feedback – 3rd Party Career Mentorship.

Ubuntu established this criteria through feedback from students, educational institutions, employers and expert advisors. The estimated time commitment is about 15 hours which includes 10 hours of voluntary service. Students will have until April 30th to complete the criteria at their own pace. A certificate will be issued for every year the student completes the program until they graduate. The program is open to any student attending a post- secondary institution in Canada including master students.

This criteria provides students a variety of practical experiences to explore where their passion lies while making a social impact.

The student can attach reference letters, communicate their commitments and relate these experiences from the platform for specific job applications. This is the type of differentiation employers are seeking when shortlisting candidates. Throughout the year, Ubuntu will share employer guidance that can be utilized to further strengthen student applications.
